Rosemaling – Day 2
January 20, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
(Continuation from Day 1 of Rosemaling)
Arrangements have been made with Alice Barth, Rosemaler from Saskatoon, to instruct a weekend workshop on Rosemaling. Several of you have expressed interest in learning this traditional Scandinavian folk art and we sincerely hope that you will be able to participate. To help keep the costs down, the Board has agreed to subsidize the cost by covering the facility rental, but we need a minimum of 10 persons for the workshop to go ahead. We are therefore asking that you reserve a seat for yourself by registering by cheque, cash or etransfer no later than January 5th, 2018. If you are attending the Christmas party on December 3nd, I will gladly accept your cash or post-dated cheque.
The following are the event details:
Date: Friday, January 19, 2018 (from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.)
Saturday, January 20, 2018 ( from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Place: Whitmore United Church (Blue Room)
336 Durham Drive
Cost: $60 (includes supplies)
Registration Deadline: Registration with payment deadline: January 5, 2017
We have the use of the kitchen, so we will provide coffee on Saturday morning. There will be a lunch break at noon and we are asking that participants bring a simple potluck item to share.
This event is being planned in Saskatchewan in winter, so we need to add that this is weather permitting. The instructor is travelling form Saskatoon and in the unfortunate event that travel is hazardous, we will reschedule or refund registration money.
If you have any questions or wish to pay by etransfer, please contact me at 306-586-8879. Cheques to register can be sent to me at: 50 McGill Place, Regina, SK., S4S 6R7. I will also pick up your registration.
Thank you for your attention to this invitation. It really is a rare and wonderful opportunity to learn a folk art tradition that dates back to 1750. Our club has been the recipient of Donna Holbrow’s rosemaling collection of books, videos, and patterns and we will bring some of this collection to the church and make them available for your perusal and use.
