SCANDINAVIAN CULTURE WEEKEND
WHEN: June 13-15
WHERE: Red Deer, Alberta
Hosted by the Sons of Norway Aspelund Lodge, this weekend celebrates that 200-year anniversary of the first crossing. It features a variety of activities including a bus tour of historic settlements, crafts, food and entertainment. Click here for more information.
SCANDINAVIAN CLUB OF REGINA – MID-SUMMER FESTIVAL

WHERE: Bethesda Lutheran Church (about 40 minutes south of Regina on Highway 6)
COST: Catered Picnic: $16/person for members, $21/person for non-members, Children 12 and under $10
Bus Transportation from Regina: $22 per person return

FALL FESTIVAL – November 2024
When: Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 5:15 p.m
Where: New Hope Lutheran Church, Regina, SK.
Please RSVP by October 30. No charge for members. Donations accepted. $10 charge for non-members.
Looking for volunteers to help make the soup at the church starting at 2 pm and to help with setting up and taking down.
Please note: many members let us know they were already booked for Sept. 14 so we moved the date to Nov. 2. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Where: New Hope Lutheran Church, Regina, SK.
Please join us on Sunday, December 1 at 4:30 p.m. We will gather at New Hope Lutheran Church for our annual Christmas Potluck celebration.

CROSSING 200 PRESENTATION – September 2024
When: Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 4:30-7:30 pm
Where: Western Pizza South 3847 – Albert St. S. Regina
SCOR is hosting a supper and presentation by Terje Mikael Hasle Joranger, International Coordinator for Crossings 200, on September 8. We hope you can join us to learn more about celebrations planned to recognize this historic event.
Agenda:
4:30-6 pm – supper from the menu (cost to attendees)
6 pm – coffee, tea and dessert provided and paid for by SCOR
6-7 pm – presentation
Crossings 200 is a celebration of the first migration of Norwegians to North America on the ship Restauration in 1825. On October 9, 2025, a replica of the sloop Restauration will arrive in New York. This was the sailing vessel that brought the first direct emigrants from Stavanger, Norway, to New York in 1825. The sailing of the Restauration marks the point of departure of the Bicentennial commemoration in 2025. There will be festivities in Stavanger and New York in 2025. Terje is looking to promote celebrations in Canada.
The September 8 event will replace September’s Fishy Friday. There will be no Fishy Friday in September. Please RSVP by September 5 if you plan to attend. If you have questions, feel free to contact Linda Wacker at [email protected].
SUMMER SOLSTICE – June 2024
When: Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m
Where: Lady Slipper Courtyard, Wascana Park, Regina, SK.
Please join us in welcoming the Summer Solstice on Saturday, June 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We will gather together to celebrate in a beautiful setting that includes an indoor atrium and a secluded outdoor garden. There is plenty of parking for your convenience. Entertainment will be provided by a Regina musician.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – APRIL 2024
When: Friday April 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Western Pizza South – 3847 Albert St.
RSVP: Please RSVP to [email protected] if you will be attending. Complimentary coffee and dessert will be provided so RSVP’s are requested by April 10 to ensure enough desserts have been ordered.
The AGM will take place immediately after Fishy Friday supper.
GENEALOGY WORKSHOP – APRIL / MAY DATES 2023
This is a reminder that a 3 part Genealogy Workshop will be held on Zoom on Wednesday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26th at 7:00 p.m., and Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:00 p.m. The sessions are 1 ½ to 2 hours in length. The cost is $20/participant. If you are interested and have not registered, contact Linda Wacker at [email protected].
ROSEMALING – MAY 2023
When: May 13th, 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.
Alice Barth from Saskatoon will instruct participants in rosemaling a napkin/letter holder. The class is limited to 8 people. Cost is $50 and incudes materials. There is now a waiting list for this class but if you are interested contact [email protected] and she will let you know when something opens up.
